Kuala Selangor is located well off the normal tourist route and hence, still maintains its traditional “kampung” (village) atmosphere. The town caters largely to tourists coming this way en route to firefly (Kelip-Kelip) at Kampung Kuantan, the local travelers come for the fresh seafood. Kuala Selangor town is small, and we can easily walk around without a map or a guide.

  • Proceed to Kuala Selangor town with one of the largest firefly colonies in the world.
  • On arrival at Kuala Selangor, visit “Kota Melawati”, the top hill provides a scenic view of the Selangor coastline as its backdrop, and Straits of Malacca can be seen on a clear day.
  • Visit Melawati Hill, home to the silver-leaf monkeys and long-tailed macaques which will greet the visitors.
  • Proceed to the quiet hamlet of mangrove swamp – the highlight of the tour.
  • Go upstream in a boat in the quiet darkness to witness the blinking trees. The synchronized, rhythmic flashing is produced by the thousands of fireflies found in the mangrove swamp.
